There is a pending patch to add better support for the rt305x builtin-switch. Right now that doesn't immediately rid you of the need to use that patch though, since I avoided changing current behaviour. However a second step would be to move the different boards to not setup vlans on boot and rather rely on userspace/swconfig to do this.
