Ah, indeed. But my argument still holds when you replace "package
directory" with "target directory", I think.

So that workflow will still be intact when updating the timestamp of a
file in / create a new file in target/linux/*/patches-*/ causes a
target/linux/{clean,prepare}, right? This automatic clean will only be
triggered after you are done with your workflow?

Or am I grossly misunderstanding something here? If so, I apologize for
appearing thick-headed ;-p.
