Hello Jacob,please note that we are not going to accept patches for the (old) packages feed anymore. See: https://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?id=51078 and the referenced mail for details.
If you like you can adopt this package and maintain it in our new github feed: https://github.com/openwrt/packages though.
