What is wrong with that?

BTW, the Archer C7 is quite expensive, around EUR 100. An alternative
is the Archer C5 (around EUR 75-80 here).

The WDR3600/4300/4900 seem to be EOL here too (the Netherlands), which
is pretty frustrating, as I wanted to use the WDR3600 for some purposes.

I have the impression that the Archer C2 and C20 are meant to fill these
gaps, but AFAICS they are not (yet) fully supported by OpenWRT.
