Personally, I don't think so. 3y ago we (some of devs with commit access) were discussing similar idea. But there just wasn't enough interest in it.

OpenWrt is a software project, setting up a HW supply chain would imho eat way too much time and resources. there are already thousands of routers running OpenWrt and several open HW projects making use of OpenWrt.
