Good news - the correct volume is back and forum online.

Data loss - for approx 12-14hrs (0100-1500 UTC) any images uploaded to the forum are "in-hand" but not correctly indexed. I will attempt to restore them later today.

Hi all -

There is a possibility of recovering our lost data from DO which I am working on currently. In the meantime, the forum is offline while we try to retrieve the data. The most painful part of this process is that the forum backups were on the missing volume. ...

This sounds much too much like the loss of the original OpenWrt forum in May 2018. Then the reason was "no backups" combined to hardware failure, so much worse than now. But still the current situation sounds a bit risky if all backups are on a single volume at one storage provider.

I wonder if the backup could be more redundant (e.g. copied once per month/quarter to another storage), or physically backuped (to blu-ray ?) once per quarter/year or something like that.

I have no idea about the total data volume of the forum data, so no real grasp of the feasibility of the various possibilities.

And of course this raises also similar questions about the reducdancy of wiki and mailing list backups (if there are backups...).
