I have successfully fixed the problem. The fix is described here:

RA packets where being blocked by the OpenWRT firewall.
It looks to me like either an incorrect configuration is included in the
image I used
(https://downloads.openwrt.org/barrier_breaker/14.07/ar71xx/generic
/openwrt-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-g300nh-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin), or my old
firewall config was kept form the old release. The latter is more likely
since I do have custom firewall rules in there. A clean install may well
not have had this problem.
