Hi Steve,
there is a "historical" problem with the naming of options. Better might
be "FQDN".
Have a look at http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/ddns where are descriptions
for all available options.
The option "domain" does not only mean "example.com". It also means the
"hostname" to update "myhost.example.com". That's the reason why the field
inside LuCI called "Hostname/Domain".
The other reason is that with ddns providers like cloudflare it is
possible to feed IP's for self-registered domains. Then you need to send
updates for the domain "example.com" by yourself. So I think there is no
change needed to the existing scripts.
If you want to update your domain's IP you need one section with option
domain "example.com" plus one additional section with option domain
"myhost.example.com" to update your host's IP.
Does this make your ticket unnecessary ? If yes please close it, otherwise
I need more information about namecheap's ddns service.
