experienced this. After I bought a powered USB HUB it started working
 properly.

I'm trying with a powered USB hub, and it still gives the error. Even
without it, I also have a USB Power Meter, and power consumption won't go
over 300mA when it works. I've already drawn 430mA stable for more than 10
minutes of the modem's USB port, so I suppose that's not the issue.

I also have two MR3020s: v1.8 and v1.9. Both behave the same way: they
work sometimes, and other times they won't work no matter what. It doesn't
matter if I use a (powered) USB HUB or try to plug it directly into the
modem. Also, just after I get this error, I can plug either the modem
alone or the USB HUB with the modem on it directly onto my laptop running
Xubuntu and it works like a charm every single time. No single error
message ever appeared on the Xubuntu machine.

The latest trunk also presents the errors described.

Apparently using a ZTE MF110 3G modem does not trigger this issue. I'll
test some more and report back.
