Comment (by anonymous):
On r44091, for 2.4 GHz, I set 20 dBm in the LuCI drop-down menu. LuCI and
iwinfo both indicate only 18 dBm, though. Country is US, channel is 11,
and HT-mode is 20 MHz. Changing all three of these (to HT40, Bolivia, and
channels 6 and 13) had no effect.
*HOWEVER*, I did encounter some very weird behavior with my 5 GHz band. I
set desired Tx power to a low setting (like 13 dBm), rebooted, and then
set Tx power back up to 20 dBm. This time, I got a limit of 17 dBm
instead of my original 15 dBm in LuCI and iwconfig. I've been changing
various settings back and forth, and 5 GHz now always tops off at 17 dBm.
Look, devs. In light of the above, I'll bet that this is at least
partially software-related. The FCC tests for these routers specify 22
dBm EIRP, and frankly, I and many others are tired of them not working
properly.
So, would it be too much to ask to take a look into the issue? Or, better
yet, provide us with some specific pointers on investigating it? I'm a
decent C programmer, and have a little experience with drivers and HW too.
Thanks in advance.
