Have the same problem on my Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH r44685.
After a power cycle or "/etc/init.d/network restart" my wanport wont come
online again. (in 95% of the time it wont, very lucky if it comes online )
ethtool -s eth1 speed 100 duplex full autoneg off
brings the port online in no time
