after I restored my settings backup via a reflash using `sysupgrade -i
-v`. I renamed them to 'trunk_ ' for labeling.

 Ah okay, that explains it.

been moved to /etc/opkg/distfeeds.conf, which is where the second set of
 feeds is coming from.

 feeds inside customfeeds.conf, commented out.

feeds will have to be put inside /etc/opkg/ dir.

Correct. This was done to make it possible to sysupgrade from an older
release and not having to modify the opkg.conf anymore.

Make sure you add any of your "own" feeds to
{{{/etc/opkg/customfeeds.conf}}}, as any other files will not be kept on
 upgrade.
