Good news!
I just updated my C7 to trunk (r47048) and this issue appears to be
solved.
I suspect the problem was solved by updating ath10k firmware from
10.2.4.45 (CC RC3) to 10.2.4.70-2 (at least on r47048).
I'm following ath10k firmware development list
(http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/ath10k/) and it's is going through
VERY heavy development, so maybe keeping it up to date will reduce
possible issues.
