 It seems the latest trunk with your two commits are working perfectly.
 I've manually triggered the bug lots of times (I added some debug to log
 when the dma stuck condition occurs); the recovery happens successfully
 without a link state change or sirq storm, and the tx timeout is usually
 not triggered. Occasionally, if I leave testcase script running, a tx
 timeout will actually trigger, but it also recovers just fine if this
 happens.

 I've set the old patches to deprecated/archived on patchwork; hopefully
 that's all that was needed to minimize your workload. Thanks!

 To the last anonymous person: this bug would have caused your wan port to
 stop responding completely when a tx timeout occurred, and not recover
 until you manually rebooted/restarted the interface. If you never have
 internet connectivity loss with a tx timeout in your log, your problem is
 not related.
