I, too, am having problems with x86. In my case, it if for an x86_64
generic build.
As instructed by the make, I did a "cd ~/sources/openwrt/build_dir/target-
x86_64_musl-1.1.12/linux-x86_64/linux-4.4/" and attempted a "make
oldconfig".
The prompts I received were for the following symbols:
DELL_RBTN
X86_DECODER_SELFTEST
