#22008: Wifi connection dropping randomly
-------------------------+---------------------------------------
Reporter: Mushoz | Owner: developers
Type: defect | Status: new
Priority: normal | Milestone: Designated Driver (Trunk)
Component: base system | Version: Trunk
Keywords: |
-------------------------+---------------------------------------
Router: TP-Link wr1043nd v2
Openwrt Version: Trunk r48973 (but I experience the same problem on Chaos
Calmer Stable release)
Problem: The wifi connection on my router randomly stops working. Ethernet
connections to the router are fine, and can still access the internet. On
some devices the wifi connections stays "connected", but the connection is
completely dead. Pings to the router are not possible. On other devices
the connection drops completely. The SSID is still visible in the list of
available wifi connections, but I am unable to connect.
I had a look on the Luci wifi status page during such a lockup. The signal
strength showed 0 dBm, while the noise value was in a normal range (-96
dBm). The Bitrate was displayed as 0.0 Mbit/s. The percentage bar showed
0%.
Workaround: Running the 'wifi' command resets the wifi and temporarily
fixes the issue until the next lockup comes along. I haven't figured out
what triggers this bug. It seems rather random.
