Third time I'm typing this. I have no idea what the hell keeps happening.
 This is very very frustrating.

 I flashed my WRT1200AC with WRT1900ACv2 firmware. I think. I still can't
reliably via memory alone discern which model is either a "caiman" or a
"cobra". These are 2 bloody snakes on some stupid router for all I can
 muster.

This also raises the question of why sysupgrade has no check for the
particular board in use, to make sure this sort of wrong-flashing does not
 occur.

Mnemonics using the first letter to match with "what I know is mine"
doesn't work; they're both "C". So this overloading confuses me, and
causes me to have to quadruple-check and still mistake which model I am
using. I still somehow flashed "cobra" instead of "caiman" and it let me,
and ruined the ubifs partitioning in the process.

So in light of these multiple issues: overloaded mnemonics, sysupgrade
failing to check that its the wrong file, it would be much better if the
 Linksys-given Model Numbers: WRT1200AC, WRT1900ACv1, WRT1900ACv2,
WRT1900ACS, were actually present in the filename to flash.

You already do it "right" for Netgear's very very popular WNDR3700 and
 successors:

 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700v2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3800-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-wndr3800ch-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-wndrmac-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-wndrmacv2-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-nand-wndr3700v4-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar
 openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-nand-wndr4300-squashfs-sysupgrade.tar

I don't see any crazy names that are nonexistent on the product packaging,
or casing. My WNDR3700v1 explicitly states WNDR3700 on it, and on its box.
My WRT1200AC, neither on its blue and black plastic shell, nor on its box,
_nowhere_ does it state state "caiman" (i think?)

If linksys took "caiman" to marketing people they'd say "wat, just make it
 a model number."

 This is not useful.

 I propose instead:

 openwrt-15.05.1-mvebu-armada-385-linksys-wrt1200ac-caiman-squashfs-
 sysupgrade.tar
 openwrt-15.05.1-mvebu-armada-385-linksys-wrt1900acv2-cobra-squashfs-
 sysupgrade.tar
 openwrt-15.05.1-mvebu-armada-385-linksys-wrt1900acs-shelby-squashfs-
 sysupgrade.tar
 openwrt-15.05.1-mvebu-armada-xp-linksys-wrt1900acv1-mamba-squashfs-
 sysupgrade.tar

 Thanks,

 Mike
