I have a new TP-Link TL-WR1043ND wireless router. I'm planning to install OpenWRT on it when I have time, but I was planning on using it out of the box for a bit. One of the features I really want is packet shaping which the router's firmware calls Bandwidth Control. I can't get it to work right and I'm wondering how the OpenWRT packet shaping is in comparison. Does it work well? With the default firmware, whenever I set a machine to use only a certain maximum bandwidth, it can't access the WAN at all. I've set up packet shaping on a Gentoo router via shorewall with great success.
