Hello,

I have the following situation:

- Asus WL500g Premium V1
- Backfire, self compiled Squashfs image of current backfire trunk
- Flashdrive, with swap and ext3 partition to be used for extroot
- I configured /etc/conf/fstab based on wiki. The mount during booting works
for both swap and ext3 partition to the target.
- If I enable is_rootfs in the fstab, this has no effect on next boot. The
system still mounts the partition to the target, but not as rootfs
- All necessary packages are enabled (AFAIK)
- The jffs continues to be mounted on overlay

I tried to analyze the preinit scripts and do unterstand the mechanism. I
found a file where the config is parsed etc, but I have no idea how to debug
that. Currently I do not have a serial console.

I posted all relevant configuration(fdisk -l, df -h, mount, dmesg,
/etc/conf/fstab, opkg list_installed) info to pastebin on
http://openwrt.pastebin.com/HszpWT74

Questions:
1. can I debug preinit somehow? Maybe by echoing to the LAN
2. any idea about the cause? Do I miss s.th.? Is it supposed to work with
2.4?

Regards
Sebastian
