Hi, I've been struggling for months with this one. seems I'm one step closer to a solution.
I have 2 hop wireless network between myself and the nearest adsl line. The first hop is less than 1000m and works fine without doing anything special. The second hop is approximately 2250m and has never worked at all. The 2 endpoints of the 2250m link have Ubiquiti Routerstations with Mikrotik R52H (atheros) cards. Each has a 22 dBi grid antenna. A few days ago I had the unit that lives at the far end of the link with me when I when up to the repeater station (2 routerstations back to back). It worked fine even with a little 3 dBI dipole. With the dipole there was considerably less signal than there usually is with the grid. So I conclude that what I have is a distance problem. Setting the distance optimization to 2250 seems to have no effect. I still get this in my system log: Feb 12 14:55:28 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:55:31 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:55:31 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Feb 12 14:55:40 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:55:44 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:55:44 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Feb 12 14:55:53 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:55:56 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:55:56 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Feb 12 14:56:06 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:56:09 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:56:09 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Feb 12 14:56:19 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:56:22 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:56:22 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Feb 12 14:56:31 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:56:34 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:56:34 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Feb 12 14:56:44 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: associated Feb 12 14:56:47 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Feb 12 14:56:47 repeater-b daemon.info hostapd: ath0: STA 00:0c:42:39:68:92 IEEE 802.11: disassociated Any suggestions?
