Hi Saverio!
I just tried what you want to do, I guess. If I understand you right.
You want to boot OpenWRT via PXE on your Alix board. Generally it is possible. I
just tried with my old Neoware thin client.
You should build a new image, an select
Target Images --> ramdisk (I added gzip compression)
I get one single file with everything in. I copied it to my tftpserver and
booted. Everything is fine. My PXE config:
SERIAL 0 38400
LABEL openwrt self-made
MENU LABEL openwrt self-made ramdisk
KERNEL openwrt_10.03/openwrt-x86-generic-vmlinuz
APPEND console=ttyS0,38400n8
I hope this helps. If not, try to boot any other linux via PXE (I did with
voyage linux) and use that to copy your OpenWRT to the flash disk (with dd).
Bye,
Ingwer

Hi Saverio,
Thank you for your reply.
But the problem is that we do not load software through programming via flash
disk. We load the built through netboot. So, I require proper initrd.img and
vmlinuz file to boot through netboot.
Is this possible to built proper initrd.img and vmlinuz from openwrt software so
that it can be loaded in X86, Alix wireless node,
Thank You!

Just unzip this file:
http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03.1-rc4/x86/openwrt-x86-generic-combined-ext2.img.gz
and then attach the compact flash of the Alix with your computer using
a standard compact flash reader, and flash it this way:
dd if=openwrt-x86-generic-combined-ext2.img of=/dev/COMPACTFLASH bs=512
(must be root, make sure you flash into the correct device to do not
damage your system)

Saverio
