How can I configure port mirroring?

I want to gather statistics about the traffic flowing through my router
with "ntop" (or does anyone recommend other tools for gathering statistics?)
I can't run ntop on my router because:
1. there's no OpenWrt ntop package
2. ntop needs lots of memory
I run ntop on a machine directly connected to my router, but because my
router is also a switch, none of the traffic flowing through the router
is transmitted to the machine running ntop
How can I configure port mirroring, so ntop can observe the traffic
flowing through my router?
My router is a Linksys WRT54GL
