Thanks for replying. Everything is fine with the permissions. Temporary 
solution was to downgrade tar to version 1.23. After doing that everything went 
fine. Then I've contacted developers of tar and they didn't find any issues in 
version 1.26, but instead there is suspictions that there is a bug in my 
filesystem or kernel. I will see what to do next. Maybe some filesystems check 
and if not helpful then maybe reinstall.
