I have recently moved my mesh network to a new custom firmware package
and routing protocol to openwrt AA and batman-adv.

When the change was done i was using G and N band plus HT40- on channel 11.
However i noticed some instability regarding some details and decided to
reconfigure the network to a more modest and proven stability
configuration based from past experiences and went back to "normal" G
rates slowly doing minor changes.

The overall stability improved as well as throughput, despite of the
huge bandwidth value drop out.
All access Points gained from the removal of HT40- and N rates together
as well as some other fine tunning.

As the network stabilized and throughput tests showed better results;
they recently started to show what looks like unrealistic results for
54g rates plus HT20

I am now getting throughput results from 100 mbits to 538 mbits/sec with
some access points that are not even the the best in terms of hardware

All these access points are getting these results when tested with the
main network AP.

In this map that AP is number 2

The other tested Access points are number: 11, 12 and 5

Number 2 uses a tplink wr841nd at 20 dbm with a 15dbi omni directional
antenna and it is in the best clear line of sight of the town.

The other access points use Dlink dir601a at 15 dbm with 8 dbi omni
directional antennas

This type:

From the main access point (#2) to number 5 the distance is:
345 meters without 100% clear line of sight and i get over 400 mbits/sec
with iperf.

from number 11 to number 12 the distance is:
70 meters and i get over 300 mbits/sec

from number 10 to number 12 the distance is 200 meters and i get...
538 mbits/sec with iperf.
Image and settings bellow:

I am quite puzzled with all this as i am unaware of the realistic
possibility of these values.

However from running the same test with iperf from AP number 12 to the
other access points i get much more modest values that go only up to 19
mbits/sec throughput, so far.

I would like to have some feedback about the all this.

As anyone else had this type of values ?
Why i am getting higher values just going from one way and not both ways ?
How realistic are these values ?changes
