oh <bleep>.  i have it.  it's iij being 'smart' and not handing out
AAAAs to hosts that can not use them.

of course they did not consider than i might run a cctld registry or
two, and hence need dns tools to work for testing.

i am somewhat familiar with dns :)  but thanks for forcing me to suspect
the upstream server.  whoulda thought the first commercial isp to deploy
ipv6 would whack AAAAs?  :)
