client side log of DHCP negotiations for ethernet on my_machine:
dhcpcd[29585]: enp3s0: carrier acquired adding route to 2001:***:***:***::/64
now what i would like to happend is for dhcp server to stop offering ipv4.
in other words i would to keep clients in dark about the source of ipv6 if
you like. is this possible?
kkk
I'm sure this is possible. I don't know exactly how todo in OpenWRT.
HOWEVER, please note that lots of operating-systems and software are
not fully ready for IPv6-only-operation [!!].
In order to pick up DNS servers, you need radvd configured to 'announce'
your nameservers, and/or at least a stateless DHCPv6 can do the same...
But -- many systems may not listen to any of this -- they may just require
DHCPv4 in order to pickup nameservers at all -- i'd be very interesting to
learn what you discover in terms of IPv4-only-operation.
Also, last time I checked OpenWRT uses dnsmasq to run the DNS forwarder
[which can acually accept requests over either IPv4 and IPv6, in order
to forward them on ....] -- but dns mak is also the DHCPv4 server.
Basically if you disable dnsmasq one way or another this can work.
But, by having IPv6-only you will lose access to IPv4-only sites!.
If you really want to go down this route you may want to set
things up so that you have access to NAT64 gateway....
I think, if you use 2001:8b0:6464::1 and 2001:8b0:6464::2 as
DNS resolves, you can use the NAT64 gateway even from a non-AAISP
IPv6 connection, at the moment... see:-
http://aa.net.uk/kb-broadband-ipv6-nat64.html
Good luck!
Be vey intersted to know what you dicover in terms of OSes/software
that do/don't properly support IPv6-only operation.
Be very interested to know how you get on!
