The branch documentation described the branches master and develop as
branches for completed features and working code. Therefore I created a
fresh branch (which already includes general bug fixes).

P.S. this is no offence. I'm just a git beginner.
This should usually be the case and is basically my fault, I build the new Connector stuff into the developer branch and pushed it to my repo to share it for testing - we then accidentally merged all dev branches in the offical repo. I will try to fix this today.
