Hi,

Thanks Oli for the work on the deXMLified :-) development branch. In fact,
thanks to all developers for the excellent work.

We have put some serious development effort into the project, but all the
latest achievements would not have been possible without moving version control
officially to Git (and the project repository to Github), and I am glad we have
done it. It really has boosted our development productivity, I feel.

This is a nice occasion to update the TODO list posted earlier this year:

> - database unification and improvements (Michael's submission for indexing
> LOBs) -> schema change necessary
Still unfinished.

> - Dieter's submission to the WF engine (paused workflows) -> schema change
> necessary
Done.

> - watchdog daemon keeping track of stalled workflows
Done.

> - inclusion of the NICE API (Oliver)
Done.

> - inclusion of the new Connector infrastructure we are currently working on
> (and successive migration of the core configuration to Connector)
Done.

> Some things to come later this year:
> - redesign of the SCEP workflow: many more configuration options, allowing
> for flexible policies for renewal and support for initial enrollment via SCEP
> (challenge password)
Currently in the making. The current development branch comes without an SCEP
server, it would have been to much work to port the old one.
ETA for the new SCEP server in Oxi is December. It will be vastly improved and
surely beat anything else on the market. We have some *really* fancy things
coming up here. Microsoft, be afraid! ;-)

> - inclusion of the current Smartcard personalization development: a complete,
> user friendly and highly customizable Smartcard personalization and
> certificate life cycle management application
Done, but currently not yet pushed upstream. Integrating this beast with
existing infrastructure is *really* complicated, but we plan to include a
working demo in the VM showcase.

> - multi node and cluster support (active-active setup with shared database)
Prepared (deXMLification and watchdog was the precondition for this). Needs
some work. ETA is Q2 2013.

> - a VMWare appliance as a showcase for Oxi (hopefully including the new
> Smartcard personalization with all required external dependencies, such as
> mock LDAP and Active Directory servers)
Currently being developed be me. ETA for the finished appliance will be
December.

Other topics:
- Website: needs some serious rework. I would like to move all the outdated
stuff to an attic section and give it a fresh and clean looking start. Just
some basic information, features, link to Readthedocs and development resources.
- Documentation, documentation, documentation...
- Test infrastructure: Scott is working on improving the tests, both module
tests and component integration tests. Lots of work, but necessary.

Thanks again to all for their great contribution.

Cheers

Martin
