Hi David,

can you check if the openxpi-i18n package is installed?

The I18N message in the logs are ok (we used those in the past with the intend to localize errors but we never spend the efforts to really translate them)

I have a clean install of openxpki on a jessie vm, following the read the docs quick start <http://openxpki.readthedocs.io/en/latest/quickstart.html>.

The webui is showing the I18N_OPENXPKI_UI_...  labels, instead of the actual translations or local text.

My system has en_US.utf8 correctly installed.

echo $LANG
en_US.UTF-8

It makes the interface fairly unuseable.

The environment of the server process doesn't seem to have a LANG

cat /proc/$(pidof 'openxpkid (main) server')/environ | tr \\0 \\n

Gives 10 lines of blank.  For my bash process, gives

LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8
LC_ALL=C
LC_CTYPE=C
etc

Even the logging is grumpy

2018/02/17 23:25:22 ERROR I18N_OPENXPKI_CRYPTO_CLI_EXECUTE_FAILED;

What can I check or fix on i18n ?

David
