PLAIN is widely supported, I don't think you need to worry about that. However I have not seen much SCRAM usage outside of my personal server. The semi-public service I run logs the authentication mechanism used and it's depressing how few use SCRAM in the real world. (Basically just me.) -- Kim "Zash" Alvefur
