Then you should investigate how to get it there, maybe some essential package is missing. I've got ejabberd from Debian testing repository and my ejabberdctl has get_last command.

sudo /opt/ejabberd-16.08/bin/ejabberdctl

to list all available commands and check if get_last is there.

I have checked and running within root id=0 account does not help - get_last is not there.
