I just tried your branch using dunecontrol and it works as advertised, thanks 
for the work!

In general, I'm much in favor of reducing n to 1 plus epsilon times n, but I'm 
quite indifferent on the matter of starting a new module for the build system 
or piggy-backing on opm-core. (that is, as long as all modules which use the 
OPM build system continue to depend on opm-core ;))
