Just found this one out myself. I simply have to tell opm-parser where
cJSON lies and it build the library itself.

And now it works. The only weired thing is the following:

For opm-parser I have to edit CMakeCache such that CJSON_INCLUDE_DIR
points to source directory of cJSON, i.e. where the header and source
files live. If I do the same for opm-core, then configure fails
because the header cjson/cJSON.h is not found during a compile
test. If I do not set anything opm-core builds fine.

Is there one variable with one value that would work for both?

Markus
