Maybe you could think of them as "compiled" Vagrant scripts, i.e. their
only prerequisite is a working QEmu/KVM installation (and that you are
member of the kvm group or otherwise have access to /dev/kvm).
Since they use KVM, they only work on Linux; however, the real meat is
the setup of the kickstart script - launching the VM is a small part.
