Hi Bard and Alf

Thanks for your help. I ran upscale_perm using the Hummocky.grdecl file from
the OPM repository and it gave the same results as the OPM project website. I
am going to try the two phase upscaling module next and will let you know if
there are any issues.

I guess it is just confusing for new users that there are two websites which
link to the OPM project

https://wiki.opm-project.org/index.php?title=Main_Page
https://opm-project.org/

Are there any plans to merge these into a single website?

Best regards

Alun

Hi,

Alf is correct. The "upscale_perm" utility does not support the parameter file
method that's documented on the OPM project's website, but rather expects to be
invoked as

    upscale_perm gridfile.grdecl

possibly with some additional flags/options to control boundary condition
types, output files, and linear solver tolerances &c.

Hi Alun,

Actually, I have never used the parameter file option, so not sure how well
that works. From the error message, it seems like it is working, but that your
grid-file has formatting issues. You can feed the files directly to the routine
as documented on the wiki, here:
https://wiki.opm-project.org/index.php?title=Upscaling_single_phase_permeability

Cheers,
Alf

Hi Alf

I tried using upscale_perm as suggested but now get this error message:

String fileformat=eclipse not formatted as valid keyword

I copied the upscale.param file directly from the OPM webpages
(opm-project.org/?page_id=405&page=5)

Best regards

Hi Alan,

As Arne Morten and Atgeirr informs, please use upscale_perm or upscale_avg
instead. The upscale_singlephase binary was obsolete, and removed when we added
man-pages for all (in preparation for official inclusion into Debian). I am the
one to blame.

Cheers,
Alf

Actually it's more mysterious than that.

The upscale_singlephase program has been removed from the repository. I'm not
exactly sure why but it was considered obsolete.

Hi there,

seems there is a packaging woopsie for upscale_singlephase. It is not included
in the deb file, I don't quite know why yet but what you are seeing is
unfortunately expected. I'll make sure to get it fixed for the upcoming release.

Hi

Sorry for the radio silence but I got sidetracked. I started following the
upscaling section on the OPM website and got to here:

https://opm-project.org/?page_id=405&page=3

I typed

sudo apt-get install libopm-upscaling1-bin

and got this message

libopm-upscaling1-bin is already the newest version

I assume this means that upscaling is installed so moved to here:

https://opm-project.org/?page_id=405&page=5

I created the upscale.param file as described and typed

upscale_singlephase upscale.param

but now get this message:

upscale_singlephase: command not found

Best regards

Alun
