Okay this question may be more suited for the nagios plugin list but so
far I can't figure out how to search their archives so I'll ask here.

We want to use Opsview to check the health of our connectivity to core
routers.

One of our network guys says packet loss greater than .5% and RTA > 5ms
should be detected.

To get that kind of precision in packet loss we would have to be sending
a lot of packets but I can even seem to get any better than 5% (20
packets)

I read check_icmp is much more efficient than check_ping and I saw
examples of 50 packets being sent with check_icmp.

For some reason check_icmp will not allow more than 20 packets, below is
the error seen.

./check_icmp -w 5ms,1% -c8ms,1% -i0.5s -n 25 -t26 core1.router

check_icmp: packets is > 20 (25)

Any ideas on how to check for packet loss in Opsview in the .5%-1%
range?
