" But if you use a distributed environment with master and slave nodes the
large NRPE
output has to be forwarded to to the master using NSCA which limits the
plugin output to 512B."

I wondered about this, I have a custom plugin that returns variable amounts of
information (lists Wireless AP's missing after 10 min) and periodically my
perfdata gets truncated.

NSCA appears to be part if the opsview-base package so wouldn't that patch get
overwritten on a Opsview upgrade?

If Opsview has the modified NRPE for large output sounds like they should patch
NSCA in the package to automatically allow the large output as well.

Maybe one of the developers can chime in to suggest the best way to patch NSCA
in a manner that would survive future Opsview upgrades.
Thanks for posting the patch to the group, like I said I wondered why some of
my output was getting truncated.

Subject: [opsview-users] increase NSCA payload to 16k

Hello!

Tried to add a comment to the opsview blog, but it doesn't accept my
text (special chars?), so I blogged it and share this with the list:

Ton explained¹ how to modify NRPE for large output. But if you use a
distributed environment with master and slave nodes the large NRPE
output has to be forwarded to to the master using NSCA which limites the
plugin output to 512B. So you have to patch and recompile NSCA to get
your big 16k-NRPE ouput displayed and processed by the master.

The patch i created is available at my blog:

Feel free to use and comment it!
