Hi! I asked for different freshness settings before on this list. So let me rephrase that:
Here, we switched from (pure) Nagios to an Opsview Monitoring Cluster. With Nagios it is very easy to configure different freshness_thresholds. I consider this a very powerful option, useful for any kind of batch or time triggered jobs. Yet I haven't seen how Opsview gives me similar possibilities. Also I can't see how SNMP traps provide a similar functionality. Yeah, I could write log files and then check if the logfile is recent ... But as Nagios got the functionality why don't let Nagios do it? Ergo: It looks like a trivial change to Opsview: -- manage two more config lines per service: - 'check_freshness' - 'freshness_threshold' -- add a checkbox and a input field to the GUI So why not add it? (This is a feature request) And maybe I can get it sponsored. But I need to know how to sponsor. So please let me know hot to join the party. -- lg On Di, 2009-11-03 at 21:56 +0100, Frederic Jacquet wrote: > Sounds also like a custom snmp trap use case otherwise ;) > > On Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 19:35, SCHÖGLER Philip > <philip.schoeg...@svc.co.at> wrote: > Hi Fred, > > > > thanks for the hint, but to check the timestamp of a logfile I > would have to create one and even if CRON is running doesn’t > guarantee that a job was executed successfully. > > > > So far we added little wrappers in CRON which are responsible > for the error handling and in case everything was executed > successfully we send the result with NSCA, if no new result is > sent the check will change into CRITICAL. > > > > Thanks > > Best regards > > Philip > > > > Von:opsview-users-boun...@lists.opsview.org > [mailto:opsview-users-boun...@lists.opsview.org] Im Auftrag > von Frederic Jacquet > Gesendet: Dienstag, 3.
