Good to know that I'm not the only one seeing this. I forgot to mention that it doesn't happen every time you cancel a downtime, I think 10-20% seems about right. I confirmed that it doesn't create a dump in /usr/local/nagios/etc/ and there's no indication of a problem even when changing the debug_level to -1. I'll try to strace it next time I'm able to reproduce the problem.
