Opsview creates a standard RRD for all performance data. We're aware that it is a limitation that we can't change this automatically: (https://secure.opsera.com/jira/browse/OPS-496
It's not on our immediate roadmap, but sponsoring this feature would push it further up the queue. Let us know if you are interested in this.
