Tor opens a SOCKS listener, by default, on TCP 9050; Privoxy will open an HTTP proxy listener, by default, on TCP 8118. When someone makes use of Privoxy, it will talk to Tor via the SOCKS listener on the localhost; in essence, it loops back before going out. The Privoxy port can be changed by editing its config file; Tor can be made to listen on a different port by editing your torrc file. Details can be found in the Tor documentation. - -- F.
