Don't use Gmail for anything important, you mean. But that, of course is true for every proprietary email provider. Gmail is not the worst by far, at least they don't roach-motel your data (IMAP for remote multiple sync, ability to use your own domain with Google Apps, so you can migrate away with minimal to no disruption). Kudos to them for that. Of course they're the evil data kraken, the one stop shop for every intelligence agency and will yield all their records to cesar at little or no provocation. As will any other vendor.
