System Software Programmer (COBOL, JCL, IDMS & ADSO) Columbia, SC 3 Months $40/hr (DOE) Job Description: · Working under the direction of the Client’s Applications Development staff, candidate will provide expertise in supporting the Voter Registration System in the running of jobs, identifying problem areas within existing code and correcting to standards, writing new code, adhering to thorough testing plans and implementation procedures, and providing support for the existing team. · This position will report directly to the Application Section manager and may work in conjunction with other contractor(s) and Client’s staff in the Design and Development phases. · Become familiar with the Voter Registration (VR) System to include job flows, JCL, general program purpose and IDMS database structure. · Serve as the Systems Programmer Analyst to write and update code for the VR System o Follows the guidelines of the Client’s Information Systems Development Methodology (ISDM) o Reports regularly to the Client’s Applications Manager · Run VR jobs as requested by the Election Commission · Identify customer business processes, needs and requirements in order to provide solutions for identified problem areas. · Coordinate and collaborate with other Application team members to keep projects and work on schedule to meet deadlines. · Communicate effectively with the Election Commission providing outstanding customer service. · This position will report directly to the Application Section manager and may work in conjunction with other contractor(s) and Client’s staff in the Design and Development phases. Skills Required: · Five years minimum experience with ADSO and COBOL. · Five years minimum experience with IDMS. · Five years minimum e experience with OS/JCL, TSO. · Experience with writing new code, updating existing code followed by testing, approval, implementation and testing. · Five years experience in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle. · Strong oral and written communications skills to ensure customer understanding of requirements before sign-off. · Strong oral skills and ability to speak in a clear and concise manner. · Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff, users, management, vendors and other officials. · Ability to provide outstanding customer service for the Client.
