*SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (LINUX) * Project Location: Palo Alto, CA Project Duration: 6+ Months Contract Developing novel systems to exploit emerging hardware technologies (such as extremely dense non-volatile random access memory), massive multicore, and extremely fast networking. The systems software research group seeks to hire a system administrator to work closely with the researchers. This individual would be responsible for the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. *Ideal Skills:* • Ideal candidate: Experience in automated install/deployment of *Linux *distros, including RHEL and Debian-based systems. • Ideal candidate: Experience running maintaining heterogeneous medium-sized clusters (100-1000 machines). • Ideal candidate: Interest in tinkering with new technologies such as distributed file systems and building new Linux kernels *Required:* • A desire to maintain and administer hundreds of machines for a set of about 20-50 researchers, working particularly closely with about 10 of them. • Experience with self-service management • Familiarity with the autoinstallation tools for the major Linux distros - Redhat and Debian • Experience with scripting languages - *Perl, Python, shell* • Experience in setting up networks, bridges, firewalls • Experience in setting up iscsi, nfs • Experience in systemd and configuring boot services *Desired: * • Experience with packaging RPMs and debs. *Best Regards,Object Technology Solutions, Inc.
