Tivoli Storage Manager
*Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 3+ month’s contract
Rate:$40/hr on C2C
*PURPOSE:-*
Provide adequate resourcing for planned data-storage migration from STK
tape-silo backup system to new IBM tape library, and to serve as secondary
TSM backup data manager.
*
JOB FUNCTIONS:-
*Coordinate migration of storage data from silo-based tapes to new virtual
tape library.
Perform physical activities associated with handling 80,000 backup tapes.
Learn and assist TSM data manager in ensuring data is successfully “*backed
up*.”
Support systems administrator in providing top-quality customer service to
Enterprise Storage Group customers.
Report to Storage supervisor weekly.
Maintain schedule to remove silo tape drives from maintenance contract.
Meet cost-savings goals associated with data migration/tape library
replacement project.
Project closure tasks, including removal of old tapes and disassembly of STK
silos.
*BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:-*
- Experience in and knowledge of basic system admin tools and procedures to
*TSM, EMC, IBM* and NetApp storage-related hardware, and necessary software.
- Exceptional customer-service skills.
- Script-writing capabilities.
- Ability to maintain schedules and to report effectively to supervisor and
manager.
- Availability to work nights and weekend in the event of system problems
and changes.
