Description:  4 months - contract to hire

This is a contract to hire. All requirements and qualifications must be
considered.  This is a Contract to Hire with no finding cost. Function will
work with Vendor on transition from Contractor to Employee if candidate
meets and performs as expected.
Solid skills in Systems Development
Exposure to ETL tools such as DataStage and knowledge of Oracle database
technologies.
Possess strong requirements analysis, data analysis, critical thinking
skills to assess needs, requirements or issues and determine appropriate
course of action.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
Experience in working in multiple business environments such as but not
limited to HR, Supply Chain, Finance, Banking, purchasing and
Quality/Compliance
Expert skill level of developing solutions with relational and dimensional
models
Cognos tuning experience required with strong working knowledge of SQL.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field with minimum of 6
years work experience in data warehousing environment.
At least 5 years of experience in developing solutions utilizing the Cognos
tool suite.
Experience with Cognos 8 and 10 required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All focus below for systems is
Cognos focused. This section contains a list of five to eight primary
responsibilities of this role that account for 5% or more of the work. The
incumbent will perform other duties assigned.
Participate in and contribute to medium size projects, own assigned tasks,
produce time estimates and detailed specifications for assigned tasks,
demonstrate increased business knowledge, resolve increasingly complex
problems. Requires moderate direction, starts to direct others and
possesses solid knowledge of SDLC.
1) Participate in all phases of system development life cycle (define
program requirements, code, test, debug, and document) with moderate
guidance, following SDLC processes, application processes and quality
validation (when appropriate.)
2) Develop time estimates for assigned tasks.
3) Review and Approve detailed specifications from which programs will be
written by either the incumbent or others.
4) Review and Approve test documentation for unit and system testing.
5) Provide support for production systems. Use problem-solving skills to
assist in resolution of business problems.
6) Develop analytical skills to resolve technical problems. Identify root
causes for problems and propose solutions to prevent recurring problems.
7) Develop business or functional knowledge by responding to and resolving
increasingly complex user questions, problems and inquiries.
8) Provide guidance and mentor less experienced programmers so that they
develop their application skills.
10) Begin to work with business vendors to resolve day-to-day problems or
make process changes.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be
able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Strong, structured programming skills in Cognos 10.2.1 and higher. Solid
analysis and problem solving skills. Database knowledge. Minimal business
exposure. Excellent written and verbal skills. Knowledge of SDLC principals
and ability to apply them to system development or maintenance (where
applicable) and quality principals (where applicable.) Must be a solid team
player, able to meet deadlines and handle changing priorities. Must have
modeling and report Studio development experience in a Congnos 10
environment. Must have Dimensionally Modeled Relational (DMR) modeling
tecniques and Dimensional Reporting Authoring experience.
Education and/or Experience: Include the education and experience that is
necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent
experience required. Must have 3+ years of system experience in developing
or supporting applications.
