Job Description:
ITI Engineers
1. Thorough knowledge on Weblogic
- Installation/configuration
- Performance tuning/troubeshooting
- in depth WLST scripting knowledge for performing regular tasks
- apache web server
- high availability of weblogic & apache
- Weblogic security & hardening
- monitoring weblogic through scripts
2. Overall knowledge of web infrastructure
- load balancer/firewall
- web authentication/authorization
- web security in general
3. Red Hat Linux administration
- Shell scripting
- enabling/disabling operating system services/packages

Background
The Developer Enablement Service (DES) allows BMP developers to put their
handsets into development mode in order to test applications they have under
development. This service can enable any commercial BMP handset on any
operators network worldwide. If the service is compromised many millions of
handsets can be subject to malicious code and piracy. Thus the application
server backing DES must be secured beyond what is normal for IT operated
servers.

Additional Skills/Experience/Education:
Responsibilities:
* Come up to speed on the Qualcomm IT conventions and working environment
* Come up to speed on the special security requirements
* Perform Weblogic upgrades and patching as they come from Oracle with the
special procedures as required for security
* As above for Linux patches
* Handle reconfigurations as required by changes in the IT operating
environment taking into account the special procedures. For example if the
server cage has to be physically relocated, or LDAP is reconfigured, or the
database is changed because of general IT changes, improvements and
rearrangements
* Handle installation of the DES server application ("TEA") as new versions
are produced. This may be once or twice a week as the commercial service
ramps up, but is expected to level out
* General monitoring of the health of the system
* Take action when there is trouble, again according to the special security
procedures
* 24x7 on call for planned and unplanned down time
* As time permits, other BMP related server work
Education:
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Computer Science and/or
Information Technology or equivalent experience
