Assists in the development and implementation of security policies and procedures (e.g., user log-on and authentication rules, security breach escalation procedures, security auditing procedures and use of firewalls and encryption routines). Prepares status reports on security matters to develop security risk analysis scenarios and response procedures. Responsible for the tracking and monitoring of software viruses. Enforces security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring security profiles, reviews security violation reports and investigates possible security exceptions, updates, and maintains and documents security controls. Involved in the evaluation of products and/or procedures to enhance productivity and effectiveness. Provides direct support to the business and IT staff for security related issues. Educates IT and the business about security policies and consults on security issues regarding user built/managed systems. Represents the security needs of the organization by providing expertise and assistance in all IT projects with regard to security issues. Must have extensive knowledge in networking, databases, systems and/or Web operations. More junior level position primarily focuses on security administration; a more senior level position is involved in developing enterprise security strategies, management of security projects and the most complicated security issues.Scope of the project:Incumbents will serve as Network Security Engineers for DTO/Network Services/Network Security. Provides installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of network security devices in the Local Area, Wide Area and Metropolitan Area Networks. Will test new and modify network security configurations hardware and software. Will provide network security consulting services to other state agencies. Analyze data to provide solutions to complex problems and assist in resolving issues. Will fulfill work orders from the Service Desk. Maintains services, applications, and operating systems for network security devices and to ensure network security devices are maintained to a high level of security. Candidate must possess experience with Cisco’s 5500-X Series (5525-x and 5585-x preferred) running in a multi-context environment and/or must possess experience with Juniper’s SSL/VPN MAG 2600, 4510 or 6611 and or must have experience with Juniper’s SRX240 running in cluster mode. Candidate must have proficient oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work on projects individually or part of a team. Must possess a valid Class-D Driver’s license. Will be required to pass a SLED (SC State Law Enforcement Division) Criminal Background Check prior to employment. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Candidate will be required to be on-call 24 hours a day on a rotating schedule for the length of the contract. Candidate must be able to be on-site, if needed, within 30 minutes of being contacted. Candidate must be able to climb or crawl into confined spaces and be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
