*Position Objective:  *

The responsibility of this position is to provide administrative and
application support in a predominately AIX and Linux computing
environment.  This position requires the skills necessary to install and
maintain AIX and Linux operating systems.  This individual should be
familiar with logical volume management; disk technologies; SAN
technologies; UNIX security; a comprehensive understanding of hardware
configurations, familiarity of system virtualization, experience with Korn
shell scripting; backup and restore methodologies, a thorough understanding
of POWER HMC features, functions and configuration options; and basic
trouble shooting skills.  Perl scripting, enhanced trouble shooting skills,
capacity and performance experience, an understanding of network protocols,
familiarity of high available implementations, experience with both IBM
Power technologies as well as Intel hardware configurations.

*Unix Administration: 50%*

Provide day to day operational support for the UNIX environment which is
based in all regional data center locations.  Maintain all operating
systems at current versions and patch levels.  Ensure all AIX systems
maintain correct configurations.   Monitor the performance of installed
technologies, performing required maintenance and upgrades as appropriate.
Make recommendations for operational improvements.  Provide ongoing support
and troubleshooting for our installed technical solutions.  Develop and
promote technical standards and support migration efforts to the future
technology infrastructure.

*On Call Support: 20%*

Provide 24x7 support for all UNIX systems.  Monitor system health and
remediate identified problems.  Monitor the various application work
queues, and complete incoming requests in a timely manner.  Participate in
RCA bridges and provide technical assistance when required.

*Project Management: 10%*

Assist with department projects and initiatives, help to develop and
maintain detailed project plans.  Work closely with business colleagues to
ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.

*System Performance: 10%*

Routinely review system resource allocations and application needs to
ensure business process are completing within identified SLA’s.

*Problem Analysis and Resolution: 5%*

Assist staff and business representatives with the diagnoses and
remediation of technical problems.  Work closely with the various
infrastructure support teams to identify critical failures.

*Capacity Management: 5%*

Frequently monitor and review system capacities.  Perform hardware and
operating system tuning when applicable.  Provide short and long term
capacity forecasting and perform the necessary planning to ensure adequate
system resources are always available and functioning properly.



*Minimum Experience: *

   - 7 Years hands-on UNIX administration experience in fast paced
   commercial environment.
   - Strong knowledge of server architectures.
