Someone who has a SQL Developer background with experience designing will be good as well for this position. Length: 3-6months (might go fulltime for the right person) Location: DC The ideal resource for this position will have experience in building an enterprise data strategy for Farmer Mac using industry standard frameworks such as Data Maturity Management (DMM), Data Management Capability Assessment (DCAM), not limited to the following clusters. 1) Data Security 2) Data Consistency 3) Data Accessibility In addition, the Senior Data Architect must have hands-on experience with SQL Server 2012, SQL Server 2014, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Integration Services, and preferably, minimal Oracle DB experience also. Strong ability to understand business requirements, and build, test, deploy Operational Reports using SSRS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: *Must have current hands-on experience with implementation of large database and tier-1 and tier-2 type solutions. Knowledge and experience are required in designing, planning, building, and deploying (release, maintenance, monitoring) solutions including several of the following: *Designing, developing, and coordinating Enterprise Metadata Strategy, including repository implementation and maintenance *Developing Investment Operations reports using SSRS, including creating generic template reports that users can customize * Reviewing the data and technology architecture design of key application projects to ensure alignment with the enterprise standards and target architecture/roadmap *Reverse engineer current SQL Server applications and fine tune them for performance enhancement and optimization. *Expertise with Database performance tuning at multiple level (Application, Database, Network, etc.) - identifying DB performance bottlenecks and addressing such issues through appropriate solutions. *Experience with Data Traceability / Lineage cataloging. *Facilitate proactive impact analysis in scenarios like server maintenance, Database outage, Database Load Analysis, Network Load Analysis, Application Deployment etc. * Assists in maintaining and enhancing the metadata infrastructure the data dictionary and business metadata, and facilitate publishing the information to the business and technical communities. *Delivers advanced technical knowledge and analysis of data migration, data analysis, data harmonization, data integration, data standardization, data profiling, data stewardship, data governance, metadata management, and implementation advice for complex enterprise-level initiatives and challenges. *Experience with projects relating to data management efforts including but not limited to the implementation of a Enterprise Data Model, Operational Data Store, Metadata Repository and Master Data Management *Experience with reports scheduling tools, performing data mapping *Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) *An ability to articulate architectural differences between solution methods and the challenges and approaches to integrating solutions built on different platforms including a working knowledge of different architectural frameworks that may be used. *A deep understanding of, and ability to use and explain all aspects of, relational database design, multidimensional database design, KPIs, Scorecards, and Dashboards * A deep understanding of, and ability to use and explain all aspects of application integration in .NET and data integration with SQL Server and associated technologies and standards *Expert level knowledge in at least one and deep knowledge of the following Enterprise Server technology areas is also required: SQ L Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Office SharePoint Server Enterprise features, and PerformancePoint Server. *Expert level experience in SQL Server performance tuning and administration working with Large to very large databases (multiple terabyte or larger). *Enterprise deployment experience in complex heterogeneous environments *Ability to move between high level architectural review/design and the “roll up the sleeves” level of actually doing all phases of a solution delivery project *Ability to accurately express the benefits that Microsoft SQL Server products present over other competitors is a definite plus The role requires a technically strong Architect who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in design and deployment of Database solutions. The successful candidate will have a BS/BA degree and 8+ years of relevant work experience.
